Description:The Penguin Random House Teacher Awards for Literacy recognize the nationís most dynamic and resourceful teachers who use their creativity to inspire and successfully instill a love of reading in their students. The competition is open to teachers throughout the nation. Competitive applicants foster a love and passion for reading in students through innovative programs and curriculum, take risks in presenting books and literature to students in a unique way, make a commitment to helping reluctant readers and are visionary in their methods of reaching them, and create distinctive programs and activities that support and promote a community of readers.

Full-time or part-time public school teachers in kindergarten through grade 12 are eligible to apply. Teachers may nominate themselves or someone else. Applications may be submitted by email or postal mail.
Eligibility:Public, Charter
Award(s):Three winners receive a cash prize of $10,000, $5,000, or $2,500; plus, $2,500 in Penguin Random House titles for their respective schools and up to $250 in First Book Marketplace credits. The $10,000 grant recipient also receives transportation, lodging, and conference registration to attend the Penguin Random House Awards event at the National Council of Teachers of English annual conference.
