Description:The Award for Outstanding Teacher from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) recognizes one teacher who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in and understanding of educational technology achievement. The award is open to all prekindergarten through grade 12 classroom teachers.

Nominees are judged based on the following criteria:
• Nominee has demonstrated their ability to both deliberately plan for and incorporate the use of technology for the purpose of improving the education setting.
• Nominee continuously improves their professional practice through the exploration of creative applications for technology and the consistent evaluation of current research and practices to improve student learning.
• Nominee promotes the effective use of digital tools across local and global learning communities.
• Nominee exhibits leadership in their school or professional community with a vision of technology infusion.

An applicant must be nominated by a colleague or can be self-nominated. Submissions must be made online. Among the required application materials are at least one letter of support from the nominee’s direct supervisor or chief staff representative and at least one lesson plan that demonstrates effective use of the ISTE Standards for Students.
Eligibility:Private, Public, Charter
Award(s):A cash prize of $1,500, and a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the ISTE Conference and Expo is awarded.
Deadline(s):Nominations are accepted December 1, 2016 through February 28, 2017.
